Principal News | Mr Adam Montgomery

Welcome to another edition of our newsletter from Glenview State School where our students are HAPPY, SAFE, HEALTHY and PROUD. As our term comes to an end, I continue to be amazed by the effort, behaviour and standard of work of our students.
In week 10 we will be holding our Parent-Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 September. Whilst not compulsory, they provide an opportunity to connect with your child's teacher and discuss their progress, goals, and wellbeing. A link was emailed home earlier today. If you haven’t yet booked a time with your child’s teacher, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible. Click on the link to book an interview.

Curriculum News - Mrs Christine O'Toole
This week is Teacher Aide Appreciation Week and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing team of TAs we are so fortunate to have at Glenview. I know I speak for everyone when I say we think we are incredibly blessed to have such professional, knowledgeable, positive and caring TAs that support not only our students but our teaching and non-teaching staff every day. They make such a difference to our school community and we appreciate the valuable contribution each one of them make. Thank you!!
ICAS ASSESSMENTS
Congratulations to all of the students who challenged themselves to an ICAS assessment over the past few weeks. We had a few technology issues but the students were amazing at being flexible and gave their best effort to all assessments on offer. If your child participated, keep an eye out for an email that will outlione how to access their results.

This term we have implemented a whole school approach to taking a Peaceful Kids Pause after first break. Our amazing HPE teacher Mrs Low teaches our students a meditation each week and class teachers facilitate a 10min session each day for students to practise being mindful. Ask your child about the different meditations they do in class. You might even like to try them at home. https://www.peacefulkids.com.au/meditations1.html
TERM 3 ASSESSMENTS
All classes have or are very close to commencing assessment tasks for this term. Assessment is an opporutnity for students to demonstrate what they have learnt throughout the term. All classes have assessment tasks in English, Mathematics, Science and HPE. Other learning areas such as HASS, The Arts, Design Technologies, Italian will be assessed in Term 4. The results from these tasks contribute to semester 2 results which will be shared through reporting at the end of the school year.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
Congratulations to all Stevens house members who read their way to be the very first winners of the GSS Premier's Reading Challenge. They started out strong and never really looked back. Everyone who completed the challenge regardless of which house you are in is eligible for a certificate. Please make sure you have handed your record sheet to your teacher by tomorrow.

Book Week Parade 2025
Earlier this term we received a very generous donation from Mooloolah Valley Community Association. Charne the president of the association is a valued member of the Glenview community as a grandparent of a former student as well as a regular volunteer helper in Reading Wizards throughout the school year. The $500 will be put towards brand new library books - we cannot wait to see what students and Mrs Chapman choose! Out Book Week parade was the perfect opportunity to thank Charne and the Mooloolah Valley Community Association.

Fynn, one of our ambassadors was there to thank Charne on behalf of the school.

Classes on Book Week Parade

Our resident Bookworm, Lee! Lee our wonderful TA is involved with (amongst LOTS of other things) Reading Wizards, Book Worms and Readers' Cup - we thought this year's costume was just brilliant and suited her so very well!

HPE & Sport News - Kristen Low

Regional Athletics Carnival
Laila of Grade four recently represented the Nambour District at the Regional Athletics Carnival. She was our only representative and performed super well. Laila came 6th in the Long Jump and jumped her personal best. Congratulations Laila!!
Small Schools Oztag Carnival
This event, scheduled to be held on Friday 12th September, is for selected Grade three to six students. Consent has been sent to parents via QParents and must be completed by Monday September 8th. The carnival is held at the Mooloolah Soccer Club. This is a great opportunity for students to enjoy being involved in an Oztag Carnival, with a focus on fun and participation. Many students from the other small schools have never played oztag, so we encourage students to be encouraging and inclusive of others. QLD Oztag will provide referees for the day. Parents are welcome to attend.
Learn to Swim Term 4 and Swimming Carnival
Grade prep to three students will take part in the Learn to Swim Program at Beerwah Aquatic centre in Week 2 Term 4. More information to come. The Glenview SS Annual Swimming Carnival will be held at the Beerwah Aquatic Centre on Friday November 7th.
Student Sporting Success
Congratulations to Don from Grade 6, on his recent sporting success. Don, along with his playing partner, won the Sunshine Coast Junior Tennis League Green Ball Saturday morning competition. Well done, Don.
Congratulations to Tuki, Cruz, Remy and Anzac, who recently won the State Grand Final in the 3P Tag competition. They won the event after just making the Grand final and had previously been beaten by the team they defeated. Well done boys.

Sunshine Coast Instrumental Music Excellence Program -SCIMEP
Each year Glenview students are offered the opportunity to audition for a place on the Sunshine Coast Instrumental Music Excellence Program. Successful students experience workshop activities that bring together primary instrumental music students from across the Sunshine Coast area to provide a large ensemble experience performing in concert band or string orchestra. Students have the opportunity to work with different conductors, receive specialist tuition, extend their skills and perform new and challenging music with other musicians of a similar level.
Congratulations to all musicians who took part!

QParents
As most of you will know, here at Glenview we use QParents and encourage families to sign up to the app as this is what we use to send out consent requests for our Student Resource Scheme, Media, Online Services, incursions and excursions. Once all set up, it helps us to be environmentally sustainable by reducing the use of paper forms. For you it makes it easy to see old school reports, report a school absence, pay or view invoices and update details. Please see below for a guide on how to set yourself up on the app. If you need any help at all please get in touch, we are always happy to help.
