Principal News | Mr Adam Montgomery

Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 2 and also our first newsletter sent out through Schoolzine. I really hope you like the new format.
I have been blown away by the students' behaviour and effort here at Glenview and have seen our students displaying our behaviour values- SAFE, HAPPY, HEALTHY and PROUD. It really was evident at our ANZAC parade and also at the Colour Run last week. Whilst these were 2 very different events, our students were engaged and participated beautifully. I really wanted to thank Chelsea Harry and the staff for co-ordinating an incredible ANZAC ceremony and Morgan and all of the parent helpers for their work ensuring the colour run was a success.
As you would be aware we have commenced work in the junior playground. Next week we are hoping for dry days so our new and existing playground (which has recently been powder coated) can be installed this Thursday. I want to sincerely thank the P&C for generously donating $50,000 towards this project, Rod Johnston for his work removing and repairing the existing playground and Leigh Flower, a member of our Glenview State School Community who donated his time and machinery to prepare the site. I can't wait to see the final result!!
I am very interested in getting the opinion of parents regarding a number of aspects of our school including homework, communication and parent information sessions. I would really appreciate parents taking 2 minutes to complete a quick survey by clicking on the link https://forms.office.com/r/KLUM10W7yq
Thank you very much for your support. I hope all the mothers have a fantastic Mothers' Day on Sunday
Regards
Adam

District Team Trials coming up
All students choosing to participate at a district trial must receive a District Trial Permission Form from their school sport coordinator (Kristen Low). Students will be notified when trials are coming up. If the specific QRSS risk assessment mandates the use of a mouthguard, schools need to also provide students with the Mouthguard Consent Form – District Trial. Students MUST complete and present their District Trial Permission Form and Mouthguard Consent Form (if applicable) to the district convenor prior to the start of the district trial.
The regional trial levy must be paid prior to the regional trial.
Students MUST submit all completed forms, along with proof of payment to their district team official prior to the start of the regional trial.
The following District Team trials are coming up;

RUGBY LEAGUE Girls 11-12 Wednesday 21 May Bli Bli SS
CRICKET Boys 10-12 Thursday 29 May Woombye State School
Please email Mrs Low with any question or concerns (kjlow0@eq.edu.au), and to register your child's interest.
Glenview Cross Country
This year’s Glenview Cross Country was unfortunately modified, due to the weather. Students from Grades 3 to 6 who wanted to run the District Trial were invited to participate on the day. It was super positive to see so many students decide to run. It was also wonderful to see so much encouragement from students towards others.
We were rained upon a great deal however students demonstrated great effort and a sense of fun through their participation. We also had many outstanding performances, including Reggie from Grade 3 winning the 9 and 10years Boys race, whilst being a 9year runner.
The twenty-four-member District Team was chosen to represent the School at the Term 2 Trial. Congratulations to the Winners of each Age Group, and those selected for the District Team.

District Cross Country
The Nambour District Cross Country Trial was held at Bli Bli State School on Friday May 2nd. Twenty-four representatives from Glenview SS ran super well on the multi lap course. Results have not yet been released; however, Lola excitingly won the 10years girls 2km Trial. Glenview has not won a race at District Cross Country for a while, so a great effort from Lola!!! Other standout performances from Cruz, Clara and Kate. Well done to all our students who ran. Fantastic effort!
Student Sporting Success
Recently we have had several students achieving sporting success. We love to recognise achievements from both within and outside the school. Please forward Mrs Low any results you would like to have celebrated for your child.
State Cup Touch Team for Kawana – Congratulations to Anzac, Cruz, Remy and Tukaha, for being selected in the Boys' team, Kate for being selected in the 12 Girls Team, and Elise, Laila and Matilda for being selected in the 10 Girls Team. They will travel to Rockhampton in May to play.
Oztag Sonics Team – Congratulations to Matilda (under 12’s) Clara and Laila (Under 10’s), on being selected in this team. They will be a playing in a National Carnival over three days in Coffs Harbour in October. These students were invited to trial for the team as they are ranked in the top thirty players in their age group from the OzTag State Cup Tournament held in February.

Italian Day 2025

Italian Day was another hit this year with an array of Italian themed activities! It was a great day with a whole school Italian performance followed by our visit from the Vespa club from Brisbane. Italian gelato and a round of fun Italian activities. I have included the classroom doors or windows that were decorated that week in celebration of Italian Day! There were wonderful Italian shirts made showing an impressive effort from our students and their families. Thank-you to our beautiful school community for supporting this event!

QParents
As most of you will know, here at Glenview we use QParents and encourage families to sign up to the app as this is what we use to send out consent requests for our Student Resource Scheme, Media, Online Services, incursions and excursions. Once all set up, it helps us to be environmentally sustainable by reducing the use of paper forms. For you it makes it easy to see old school reports, report a school absence, pay or view invoices and update details. Please see below for a guide on how to set yourself up on the app. If you need any help at all please get in touch, we are always happy to help.
